Recently Colorado’s Air Quality Control
Commission voted to adopt EPA’s new National Standard of Performance for crude
oil and natural gas production. Are you prepared?
What you need to
know…
- Some requirements take effect as soon as May 1, 2014.
- The state of Colorado estimates new rules will reduce more than 92,000 tons of volatile organic compound emissions per a year and reduce methane emissions to more than 60,000 tons per a year.
- Colorado is the first state in the nation to address methane gas, which is said to be linked to climate change.
- Colorado’s leak detection and repair program for O&G facilities will be the most comprehensive in the country.
- After May 1, 2014 all storage tanks constructed must employ STEM plans to meet the “operate without venting” standard.
- Companies are required to install devices that capture 95% of volatile organic compounds and methane emissions.
